Saguaro Week in Review: February 18-21

This Week

This week was a bit of a doozy with the holiday on Monday and me being out Tuesday due to a family emergency, so pardon the lack of pictures and riveting news! Thankfully Ms. Berhost was there to keep things business as usual on Tuesday with List 2 of our new spelling books, so some normalcy was maintained.

Friday was a busy day for us with 2nd graders taking the Gifted test (a San Tan-wide practice for all 2nd graders) as well as two guest Sewing Circle volunteers, one who even drove in from Strawberry just to be with us! We are so lucky to have such great community surrounding us who just so happen to love sewing as much as we do. Their eagerness to learn/do more, independence, and creativity is encouraging!

In the past couple weeks we have focused heavily on writing, including learning how to write paragraphs and drafting opinion essays. This is especially pertinent for our 3rd years who will take the AZ Merit test in April. In preparation for this test, we will have a practice session on Thursday, 2/27 in which they will get a feel for logging in, reading, drafting, and editing their own written essay for a 90 minute period.

Wishing you a peaceful and productive week ahead!

Ms. DeWyke
